The Most Unrewarding Game in Life

(Adapted from a video by Earl Nightingale) The most Unrewarding game in life is following the follower. The average human being does not fully understand what success is about, many times success is confused with wealth, riches or status. This means the average person does not know where to seek success. Success is nothing more than the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. A successful person knows what they are doing and why - they know where they are going. Why is it then that not many people are successful, my analysis of the situation leads me to believe that 90% of the world population does not know where they are going. They do not have a worthy ideal that they are chasing, they are just living from day to day - pay cheque to pay cheque. We live in a world driven by influence which means that we are influenced by the people and environment around us from the moment we are born. Hence we learn to speak, walk, and live like the people around us. Earl Nightingale says we must ...

Psycho-cybernetics

Psycho-Cybernetics is a book written by Maxwell Maltz. It explains how the mind works and how you can use it to positively impact and change your life. I learned that the life you have is equal to the self-image of the life you allow yourself to have. If you change your self-image, you will change your life. The human mind is made up of two part's, namely ; (a) The concious Mind (b) The subconscious mind Maxwell Maltz in his book goes on to write about how, we all have a self image in our sub-concious mind and we always act in alignment with the self-image we have of ourselves. Take what i am doing now, i am writing because i have a certain self image in my mind. This self image then influences the activities i am involved in. If your self image is someone who is cheerful, giving, forgiving and compassionate then you act in accordance with the image of yourself in your mind. When we want to change behaviors we must first change the self images in our minds. All of us are capable o...

The Path of Least Resistance

Human beings in any case, are most likely to pick the path that has little resistance. In other ways we will pick the easier way of doing things not the harder way. This is why people take short cuts, to avoid the path with most resistance. The path of least resistance is the physical or metaphorical pathway that provides the least resistance to forward motion by a given object or entity, among a set of alternative paths. The concept is often used to describe why an object or entity takes a given path. The way in which water flows is often given as an example for the idea.  In a previous blog post (Titled the War of Art) I wrote about how resistance exists everywhere in different forms. Below is an article sourced from psychologytoday.com published by Caroline Beaton (www.carolinebeaton.com)  A University of College London study published recently discovered something we knew but denied: We’re lazy. Of course, this isn’t unique to humans. Everything takes the path of least resi...

What Is Energy?

In physics, energy is the quantitative property that is transferred to a body or to a physical system, recognizable in the performance of work and in the form of heat and light. Energy is a conserved quantity the law of conservation of energy states that energy can be converted in form, but not created or destroyed. In simpler terms energy is the ability to do work. We use different forms of energy in our daily lives to do all different kinds of work, to achieve goals and to ultimately reach our objectives. Where there is no energy, there is no activity. Energy exists in many different forms. Examples of these are: light energy, heat energy, mechanical energy, gravitational energy, electrical energy, sound energy, chemical energy, nuclear or atomic energy and so on. Each form can be converted or changed into the other forms. Everything is made of energy, it is vital for us to understand that without it nothing would be. If our intent is to reach new levels and achieve the seemingl...

Become A Good Reader

One book can change your life, if only you will read it and apply the concepts written. Many great people who lived in the past, wrote their experiences and formulas down as a way to preserve what they had learnt or discoverd. People who are "good readers" set themselves apart from the rest who never pick up a book and learn about how to manage their finances better or how to build functional relationships. Jim Rohn once said "one  book might save you five years".Reading enables us to learn from other people's experience, research or philosophy. The question is who wouldn't like to save five years of pain and defeat by picking up "Rich Dad Poor Dead" and applying what Robert Kiyosaki shared in his powerful writing? The vast majority of people(especially African people) have a phobia of reading. There is an "old joke" that says if you want to hide money from a black person, put it in a book. The "assumption" is that the last thing...

Self Imposed Limitations

We are unlimited, but we set limits for ourselves. I was listening to a recording by Earl Nightingale and he said "We set limits or restrictions for ourselves by holding a mental image that is inadequate for the realization of our potential". This means that many people are living as victims of their own limited perspective of themselves, their worth and potential. In order to break down seld Imposed limitations we must first improve our self image. 1.People are not incapable but the problem is they think they are  - THOUGHT is creative. When you begin to think you cannot reach certain goals or achieve a certain level of success, you then act consistently with your self image. This simply means you become what you think about. If you think you can run a 21km marathon, then you can. Conversely if you do not think you can run a 21 km marathon then you cannot. This might all sound like a "tale" but it is nothing but the truth. Many people say "I am not good wit...

Faith Is Insanity

Faith can simply be described as "insanity" by the logical person. This should not be surprising because many people live their lives by sight(logic) not by faith. Almost all the greatest people who achieved the seemingly impossible were at one point or another referred to as "crazy".This means that people associate believing in things that cannot be seen with mental illness. If you declare that you are healed when you are sick, it seems as if you are delusional or hallucinating but the declaration is just a display of faith (Faith is the fabric of the impossible). I was thinking about the story of Noah (and the ark) in the Bible. I can imagine what people thought or even said about him when he was building the ark because he "believed" there would be a flood. He acted the way he did because he had a revelation (encounter) and he knew he had to act on faith not logic. What I am to clarify to you is that anytime you act on faith your sanity may be question...
