The Set Back

We have all been set back atleast a couple of times in our lives. None of us will leave this world without ever facing a certain challenge that will pull us back. Now that we have established that we will all face set backs, the big question is how should we deal with them? In my own opinion the set back is a set up for the come back. Set backs come not to stop us but to challenge our will. Many people will tell you how the darkest moments in their lives birthed  a new beautiful thing. Nelson Mandela was set back for 27 long years, but it is clear today that he was tested to be trusted. Today his face is on the money... today his name represents hope, love and peace. Many of us feel discouraged by set backs because all we want is smooth sailing. But the scenarios we would prefer do not help us grow, instead they hinder us from being the best we can be. They usually put it like this ;Soft men create hard times and hard times create strong men. My own humble opinion is that we ...

Tributaries And Rivers 2 [The Law Of Honor Series]

Tributaries are streams and their contents are deposited in rivers. This analogy is the same as depositing money in a bank... A tributary state is a term for a pre-modern state in a particular type of subordinate relationship to a more powerful state which involved the sending of a regular token of submission, or tribute, to the superior power (the suzerain). The noun tributary is related to the word tribute and both come from the Latin word tributum, meaning “a thing contributed or paid.” Long ago, a tributary was someone who was forced to pay a person or group in return for protection namely from those who received the tribute. To receive the best, we must give the best. If you want to buy a Rolls Royce, you need to pay millions... To get the best you pay the most and to get the worst you must pay the least amount of money. The idea here is when you value something you honor it...When you love someone you honor them.  For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son....

Cancel Your Doubts

Cancel culture or call-out culture is a term used to describe a form of ostracism that occurs in the late 2010s and early 2020s in which someone is pushed outside of social or professional circles, whether it be online, on social media, or in person. Individuals susceptible to this ostracism are said to have been "cancelled". Cancel Culture today is prevelant in society and is a system of judging others and viewing them as unworthy of a second chance. One wrong move and they all cancel you and act like you no longer exist. Cancel Culture is viewed as negative and destructive. The idea that a person can be "canceled," or culturally barred from having a prominent public platform or career, has become a  topic of debate in recent years. The rise of "cancel culture" and the concept of canceling someone coincides with a familiar pattern: an offensive act or statement by a celebrity or other public figure. A public backlash, often fueled by politically progressi...

Expect It From Yourself

Whatever you want in life, expect it from yourself. One of the biggest traps in life is the trap of expecting things from others.. We shift our responsibility to others and we blame other people and external factors when honestly most of the time we hold ourselves back. 1.Independent people get things done, they hold themselves to a higher standard... Nobody can make you a boss, you gotta do it yourself. Many are times we ignore the vast amount of power and potential locked up in each one of us.... Some people expect things from their partner, which is why they end up with anyone who has money because they need financial support..They expect money from someone else not themselves... 2.We all want people to forgive us for things we did in the past.. when we haven't forgiven ourselves. Many of us live with guilt from past mistakes, we carry it everywhere we go.. Today I want to remind you that things happen and you need to accept and adapt for we cannot rewind time but we will make b...

The Process

The seed doesn't become the tree.  The tree doesn't bear fruits.  The orange (fruit) doesn't become orange juice Without going through the process.  The process is arguably more important that the end result (In this case the orange juice is the end result). In life we all have a desired end, something we would like to be or have or somewhere we would like to live.I want to explain that it doesn't matter what your desired end is but what matters is the process.. But the process requires patience, which many of us seem to be without, hence we are called the "micro-wave generation".  The process takes time hence many of us do not like the process. We want things now and we want them fast so we disregard the process. Patience must be weaved into the process if we are to reach our desired destination.  The other thing I want to highlight is that at all times we are exposed to someone's end not their process. Everyone would like to be Nelson Mandela, loved and ...

Activity Influences Identity

How we act precedes how we are identified. If we gossip we will be called gossipers and if we preach we will be called preachers. There are exceptions to this concept but hear me out.. All of us have created an identity for ourselves through our thoughts and actions. Winners are called winners because of how they performed in a certain competitive area. The good news is that if action does infact influence how we are identified, we can begin to act differently to be identified differently. We can all claim to be anything we want but in the end actions will always speak louder. Infact most of the times we do not even have to tell people who we are, we just have to show them through our actions which are some what a reflection of our internal thought process. When you lie you adopt the identity of a liar. Identity in this writing is connected to what you do, not what you believe or where you come from. This is a practical concept.. So if you run I identify you as a runner & if you wr...

Concrete Beliefs

At times our own beliefs hold us back, not the devil or circumstances but our own beliefs. Simply put we are stuck with old information in a new chapter. A pastor by the name of Michael Phillips said the following in a sermon "The greatest threat to the future God has for you is your comfort level with your past"  Our beliefs shape our lives, they control our thoughts and our actions. If we believed that the rays of the sun could set us on fire we would not dare to leave the house during the day. This then proves my point that is; our beliefs control us and at times trap us or limit us.  When we have a limited perspective, we are blind to the possibilities. Frames create focus, so if my focus is rooted in limiting beliefs (concrete Beliefs) I am automatically limited. Most instances people around us limit us because of their own past experiences. If your friend "Tammy" was once hurt by someone in a relationship, they will detail to you how "man are trash" ...

Unlimited Potential

What is Potential? The capabilities of something or someone  What is capability ? The power of doing things . All of us are capable of doing something, we have the power to do unlimited things and part-take in many activities. There is truly no limit to what men can do.  The Wright brothers did the unimaginable in their generation and they left indelible marks on the world. The invention of the aeroplane and air transportation system changed the world drastically. I wonder what the people were saying to them ;maybe they even thought they were straight out insane? Today what they did has become normal to us, that we are blind to the complexities behind getting the "Flying Machine" off the ground.  I mention the Wright brother's because they defied they odds and believed they could do it so they somehow did it. We have the very same potential to do the unimaginable because there is no limit to our capabilities. People have continued to push the limits of what is "possi...

You Are Qualified

We are qualified by the most high to exist, since it is he who made us. He made us with love and blessed us and anointed us for such a time as this. Not only are we chosen for the good things that happen to us but also the bad. When I speak about "bad" things I mean things we do not want to experience (e.g Loss of a loved one, pain). I want us to realize that some things will happen whether or not we like them, but what we can do is to accept reality as is...if we are to grow. If today is a sunny day surely there will come a rainy day.The good news is we are qualified for all seasons by God. I want to speak about how we were taught that "bad" things come from the devil when in fact some parts of the process require that the potter puts the pot through the furnace, to make it stronger. Nobody likes pressure but we forget that diamonds go through that very same process of being under pressure but they come out "stronger".  We are qualified for the process, n...

Do we need Discipline?

Author and venture capitalist Vusi Thembekwayo once said "winners do not need motivation, winners need discipline" . Discipline is what CREATES CHAMPIONS and a lack of it is what kills champions. Many of us would have already achieved far more than what we have, had we have been more disciplined. We must hold ourselves accountable for our lives and our success (or lack thereof). We must realize that our life is in our control and that we can steer it in our desired direction. What is it you want from life? Well whatever it is you will need to have discipline, nobody cooks up anything great without this very vital ingredient. Have you ever heard of the 80/20 rule or the “Pareto Principle “? Well it is a theory maintaining that 80 percent of the output from a given situation or system is determined by 20 percent of the input. The principle doesn’t stipulate that all situations will demonstrate that precise ratio – it refers to a typical distribution.(e.g A 2002 report from Micr...

Tested To Be Trusted

I believe that everything and Everyone will Be Tested, nothing and no one is exempt from this. (examples to further theorize concept) 1.A car is tested, to see if it can transport people from point A to B successfully. 2.People are tested to see if they will keep their word. 3.Structures & buildings are tested daily to examine if they still perform their functions. (buildings give us shelter, Roads give us a transportation platform..) All I aim to point out to is that life is a series of tests that come in many shapes and forms. We have options and preferences and "types".. We make choices that then produce certain results, every desicion has primary, secondary and tertiary effects or outcomes(A story for another day) I have heard many successful individuals who came from undesirable backgrounds  detail how they felt their situation was not a  "life sentence" but a simple test. They realised that they had options and believed that by making a set of diffe...

The Sales Funnel

The sales funnel illustrates the path that a potential customer takes when purchasing goods or services. I will assume that we all know what a "funnel" is, but for the benefit of those who don't, a funnel has a wide input point and a narrow output point....meaning that if you cut off the base of a 2 litre cool drink plastic container and turn it upside down you have a "funnel".  The sales funnel has 3 Main stages, namely; 1.Awareness Stage  2.Consideration Stage  3.Desicion Stage  1.The awareness stage is the 1st stage of the funnel - This is where the potential consumer  learns about the product offering or service. The awareness stage is the first phase of the buyer's journey and is the process of making potential customers aware of your business, its brand, and products or services. (e.g when you see a MTN billboard about a new phone - you become aware  of the "new" product and the business/brand) 2.The second stage is the consideration stage, t...

Internal Locus Control

Internal locus of control can also be called “agency”. Overall, it incorporates the ability to take action, be effective, influence your own life, and assume responsibility for your behaviors. Individuals with a high internal locus of control believe that their interactions with their environment will produce predictable results (Li, Lepp, & Barkley, 2015). Think about this concept  from the perspective of control theory, which is the idea that we have either external or internal control systems that are required to keep us from deviating from accepted behavior. If we have people who lack personal control and require external forces to keep them in line, then managers will have to work significantly harder to maintain order. By contrast, if you have people whose control orientation is far more internal, they probably won't need much (if any) external management to deliver the kind of organizational behavior that is consistent with high performers (and other successful people). ...

Parkinson's Law

Who is Parkinson's? Cyril Northcote Parkinson (30 July 1909 – 9 March 1993) was a British naval historian and author of some 50+ books, the most famous of which was his best-seller Parkinson's Law (1957). What Is 'Parkinson's Law(s) '?  Parkinson's Law is generally expressed as “Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.” If something must be done in a year, it'll be done in a year. If it must be done in six months, then it will. Parkinson's Law should however NOT be used to set unreasonable  DEADLINES.  What this is pointing out to is that IF we are told it takes a learner a year to learn how to drive a car... The leaner will only master the practise after the year and if we are told it can be done in a month it will be done in a month.  In some way the law "speaks" about the relationship between our time and our activity... The amount of work we get done is allocated a certain amount of time ;So if we are told that acti...
