The Most Unrewarding Game in Life
(Adapted from a video by Earl Nightingale)
The most Unrewarding game in life is following the follower. The average human being does not fully understand what success is about, many times success is confused with wealth, riches or status. This means the average person does not know where to seek success.
Success is nothing more than the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. A successful person knows what they are doing and why - they know where they are going. Why is it then that not many people are successful, my analysis of the situation leads me to believe that 90% of the world population does not know where they are going. They do not have a worthy ideal that they are chasing, they are just living from day to day - pay cheque to pay cheque.
We live in a world driven by influence which means that we are influenced by the people and environment around us from the moment we are born. Hence we learn to speak, walk, and live like the people around us. Earl Nightingale says we must constantly check our references (influences /influencers) in order to be successful.
The assumption that the people around us are living effectively (hence successfully) leads to the tragedy of following the follower. We must design a checklist for our lives "IF" our intent is to be a success. Mr Nightingale goes on to explain that the checklist should look less or more like this :
1.Goals - goals determine direction.
2.Attitude - men unlike any other being has the "God ability" to Change his enviroment to fit him, because his environment will change as soon as he changes.
3.Think - Everything we see in the world started as a thought in the mind of a person. WE BECOME WHAT WE THINK ABOUT MOST OF THE TIME.
4.The Law of Cosmic fact(The law of sowing and reaping) -In life you sow what you reap.
5.Research and Development (R&D)
Doing what the average person does is a sure way path to failure and pain. We need individual goals coupled with the necessary actions to make them a reality. Going along with the crowd is not the right thing to do "IF" we have individual goals. The key takeaway is to remember you are an individual, with abilities & talents unique to you so doing what everyone is doing is not advisable. You need to have a plan to make your personal vision a reality but this also requires a personal revelation.
