Self Imposed Limitations
We are unlimited, but we set limits for ourselves. I was listening to a recording by Earl Nightingale and he said "We set limits or restrictions for ourselves by holding a mental image that is inadequate for the realization of our potential".
This means that many people are living as victims of their own limited perspective of themselves, their worth and potential. In order to break down seld Imposed limitations we must first improve our self image.
1.People are not incapable but the problem is they think they are - THOUGHT is creative. When you begin to think you cannot reach certain goals or achieve a certain level of success, you then act consistently with your self image.
This simply means you become what you think about. If you think you can run a 21km marathon, then you can. Conversely if you do not think you can run a 21 km marathon then you cannot. This might all sound like a "tale" but it is nothing but the truth.
Many people say "I am not good with directions", when this is not true but this is just what they have chosen to believe - and they act consistently with their thought (belief).
2.You have unlimited Potential but your self Imposed Limitations stand in the way. Realize in this moment that you are the one standing in your own way, not the devil or your enemies. You can be your biggest enemy without even realizing it. Most of us are constantly fighting an internal battle - but we do not realize this.
Imagination is very powerful and the human nervous system cannot differentiate between what is imagined and what is real. This means that our lives are controlled more by our own personal imagination compared to reality. This is why if you are worried because of a threat you imagine to be dangerous, you will begin to feel fear even if the threat is not real-the power of imagination.
Most of us are victims of our minds. Hence we limit ourselves and water down our capabilities to almost nothing.
This is our common struggle as a society and my hope is that we can begin to realize that most of our limitations are self-imposed. We are all capable to do whatever we put our minds to but first we must believe and remember that we are in control. Self Imposed Limitations act as a barrier, stopping us from manifesting our most deepest desires .
Nobody is perfect but we can begin to improve rather than become worse by realizing that most of the times we are the ones standing in our own way. Change the perspective you have about yourself and set yourself free from the shackles of limitation that are holding most of us back.
My intention here is to remind you that you are indeed capable of achieving whatever your mind can conceive, this is because everything that you see in the world today was once in the mind of a person. A mind that has conceived something is a "pregnant mind". The paradox here is some of us have conceived in our minds that we cannot achieve certain things or reach certain goals and we end up giving "birth" to this reality."You cannot give birth to something that is not inside you" . Our self Imposed limitations are as a result of our past experiences, when we were born we did not have then but we learnt them over time.
We must then focus on identifying our self Imposed limitations and liberate ourselves from those old patterns of thinking and limiting beliefs.Set yourself free for you are the one holding yourself captive.
